My html knowledge includes changing font colors, making links, etc., and some things i've copied and pasted. I downloaded this Guesbook thing from http://www.scriptarchive.com/guestbook.h... and would someone please take a little time to explain to me how to chmod the file?
(Well, I don't really care what it is and if i really want the definition i'll search for it on wikipedia or something... i just want to make the guestbook work. thanks)

if you're using Windows, you don't have to sorry about chmod. Just right-click on the file, and make sure that it isn't marked "read only." It probably isn't. You'll probably be just fine if you just put the file in the right place and go. :-)

I ditched the guest "book" idea and just bought a guest matte...where the guests sign the 11x16 matte and you place a 5x7 picture of you and your groom in the center. You can display it on a shelf or hang it up on the wall.

Wrap a stripe of pink tulle around the front of the book like the one from Davids. On top of the tulle wrap a wide white ribbon then one or two gold cords. Voila! Custom made wedding guest book with all your colors.
For the pens use silk flowers and floral tape. Keep them in a vase and your pens will double as decoration for the guest book table.

My guestbook and mailbox always is showing older mails and comments, not the new ones that are listed in alert?
There are listed on my 360 page older comments in my guest-book ( about 3 to 4 days ago) and the new comments that got alerted in yahoo mail can not be reached! The same is in my 360 mailbox! Older invites, which I have already answered, are still shown as pending and newer invites I can't reach! The same is with messages in 360 mailbox! In Yahoo-Mail I get alerts about new invites, comments and messages and if I want to read them, I get an error sign and then window jumps back to that older messages, invites or comments! How can this problem become solved?

This is likely a common 360 glitch. If your mailbox and/or comment box was working fine before and suddenly it's not working (i.e. all that's in your question details), then you'll have to wait this out and hope that the problem is "miraculously" resolved soon.
Sometimes this glitch is relieved temporarily during certain times of the day. It would be up to you to check throughout the day to see if the comment box is working correctly at any point in time.
When the Yahoo servers get backed up, then you will see this happen more often, as well as maybe delayed alerts. In the meantime, you can ask people to post comments to your Blog, if it's activated. You can use your blast or blog to make an announcement about the problem.

I know what you are talking about! it was a Polaroid camera that had a sticky backing. When I was a kid we stuck the pics in our lockers. Using HTML it is not possible. You have to select any server side scripting, like (PHP, JAVA, ASP or .NET).
Then using html you can create a textarea and using server side scripting you can take those values and put it into your database or file system. After that you can display those as you want.

MY baby cousin died at just 6 days old 2 weeks ago, we have opened a guest book for people 2 give their condolences for my Aunt and Uncle to read. If you can post your condolences and your name and where you are from i will post them on the guestbook for you.

and look at my new guestbook code and tell me how to paste this new "guestbook" into my "Blast". It can be done because I have seen it on some one elses 360 but cannot find the 360 page I saw it on. This will keep the guestbook up front at all times. When you get to my blog and guestbook you should be able to right click and copy or just left click and it will take you to the hosting page.

I have one of those on my page. What I did was to post it in a blog...like you did...but I gave it a TAG. I noticed that you didn't give yours a TAG. You can still do this by going to that blog with your Guestbook in it...and click on EDIT. Then at the bottom of your blog entry box there is the option to asign a TAG to that blog. Just type something in there and click save.
Once you have it TAGGED you can go to your Tag Cloud (it will show up on the left hand side of your My Blog page) and click on that tag that you just made. It will take you to your Guestbook blog...and that will be the ONLY blog on that page...instead of that one and the previous 4 that you had posted. Now you just need to copy the address that is up in your address bar and paste THAT into your URL section of your Blast. Don't forget to also type something into your Blast field or it wont save your URL.
That is how I put my Guestbook link into my Blast.

So we have decide to do one of these guest books http://www.guestbookstore.com/wedding.ht... . We had been having a lot of trouble figuring out the logistics of the whole thing. Our venue (who is doing all of the set up and breakdown) said that they could place one of the pages and a pen on each of the guests seats of the ceremony, along with a program, then they would have it with them to take to the cocktail hour when they could fill it out. I would either put in the program or attach a note to the pen explaining they should fill it out during the cocktail hour.
I am about the order the guest book but before I do I just want to check that this will likely work. I know not everyone will fill out one but I think all of the people who actually matter will. I feel like I am wasting a lot of money putting one of each and every seat but there is no way to know which seat is going to be occupied by who, and we do not have someone to hand out the programs/guest book pages to each person.
Would this work for my guestbook?
Tough one...I would definitely worry about wasting money on all of the pages that do not get filled out...especially since you will have a lot of couples and only one will probably fill it out for the both. Can you go through your RSVPs and do a rough estimate?
I would consider doing everyother chair. People will see them even if there isn't one on their chair. And if they want to fill one out, then I'm sure they will use someone's that is not being filled out. Just a thought...its a tough one. I didn't look at the price of them but I'm sure they aren't cheap.

I am going to have it printed on nice scrapbook paper that I will get on sale at Hobby Lobby or Micheals and then I will just insert it into the scrapbook of our choice, much cheaper option I think and that way I can have one for every guest, if they would like. I have heard people say that they rolled them like a scroll and put them on tables or at peoples chairs and had a couple of pens at each table that people could share, that might be a little difficult to make them flat again, but I like your idea about one per chair, or perhaps have them on a table like you would a regular guest book and people can take them as they enter or exit. Typcially you put it at the entrance of the reception site and have a hostess or usher direct people to sign it if they didn't already. Your venue should be able to give you a table or lectern to use to sit the book on.

If you have a table in the entrance where you seating cards are and you place it there people will see it when they pick up their seating cards and if they can't sign it them they will remember to go back. Funeral Etiquette....Signing the Guestbook?
I went to a wake last night.. our neighbors wife passed away. I went with another neighbor and his wife. After I signed the guestbook, he turned to me and said "Are you going to sign your sister/brother in laws names?' ( They chose not to go). I have never been asked to sign someone's name who wasn't there and it took me off guard. What is the proper guestbook etiquette...anyone know ??

The guest book at the funeral home is for people who actually go to the funeral home. You should never sign anyone's name that didn't actually show up there. If your sister/brother in law sent flowers, donations, etc., then that's a different matter. The family should see to it that the appropriate thanks you's are sent accordingly.

I have to ask here because I can't figure out how to post on the sims2 bbs =( soooo, i was wondering how I can read all of my guestbook signings, because i can only read one, and then they say i don't have anymore (even when I should have one unread). hope this makes sense. thank you for your help!

can people post things on it? I'm making a joke website and i want people to post jokes on it, so would a guestbook work?

You are not going to find a lot for your money (拢2pm)... however as a start you could try surftown (link below) they start at 拢0.99pm, or even fasthost (link below) @ 拢3.99pm.
Rather than using the hosting facilities it might be wise to get a good book on php, html and java that you could design and code your own site. Or to speed up the process use frontpage or dreamweaver.
I tend to code my sites using notepad or flash, unless speed of the essence is needed, then i tend to use dreamweaver.
1and1 are very good but can be on the expensive side. That said no more than anyohter good hosting company and do start from 拢2.34pm inc VAT.
But be WARNED you only get what you pay for - so do your research. My adice 1and1.co.uk might be your best bet, good after sales care and online tech help.

I have forrgotten the little thing I must do in order for me to add that style of guestbook to my blast. Someone here on "Yahoo help", helped me before. Does anyone remember how to do that with this style of guestbook? (That's why you must go to my blog, So you can identify it)

You need an absolute URL (one that begins with http://www.[domainname].com or something similar).
Find out your permanent link to the blog entry that contains your guestbook:
When you click "permanent link" at the bottom of an entry, you will see that the page will refresh and that the URL at the top changes. If you want someone to see that specific blog entry, thus avoiding scrolling through all your entries, copy that link on the browser's address bar (Ctrl+C, Right-click on it and choose copy, or Edit menu - Copy).
Then, you can paste that entire URL address in your blast and save the changes.

Guest Book Picture Frame - Digital Photo Guestbook?
Has anyone ever purchased a personalized guest book picture frame as your guest book or a digital photo guest book?
I seen the them both here at
Yolandas's Wedding Favors they beat prices so the price won't be a problem... but I'm not sure what to choose...What would you choose the guest book frame or the digital photo guestbook

My sister in law had the frame at her wedding and it now is sitting in our garage because they don't have room in their garage (and obviously don't want to hang it in their house). We have the frame option included with our engagement session through our photographer but we are going to purchase the Polaroid guest book option. It's all about personal preference and I know that hanging a signed photo isn't our thing. Do you think you will hang your frame up or keep it in a closet? Not to mention, with the signature guest book you can get some good pics of your guests all dressed up for your big day! Wow, the site you provided is cheaper than anything I've found for the book option...thanks for adding that into the question!

If you go to www.orientaltrading.com, you can find the frame guestbook for like $20. You can go to any craft store and get the photo for like $20 and pick any color or design you want.
If you took these alternative ideas, you could have BOTH of the memory ideas with spending less money for both than just the cost of one.

They took photos of the guests on the night and as it was polaroid film and self adhesive they stuck the photo in next to the guests message.
Just another idea to keep you confused :o)

The picture frame is a plain white matted opening. With one that simple you might pay $25 if you get it on sale at a craft store.
Either way "Yolanda" is way overpriced. But I would choose the picture. The "digital guest book" is no different than any other photo album on the face of this earth...AND is only has 15 pages....what is up with that?

For my wedding, I had people sign/decorate cotton squares with fabric crayon. I ironed the seam allowance on beforehand. After the wedding, I heat set the crayon (per manufacturer's instructions) and top stitched the patches to a fleece blanket. Now I have a guest book quilt! If you know how to quilt for real, you could make the squares into a real quilt.

Reply:We used card stock cut into squares and asked guests to sign and put either their wishes for the couple or their best piece of marriage advice. We had a fish bowl type container to put the cards in. These were a hit!!

If you want the comment saved it has to be php (or ASP if you're on a Microsoft server). Do a web search for php scripts or download http://coveryourasp.com/ for ASP scripts. As far as adding them to your particular blog, you'll have to do that yourself, since every blog will require different coding. For instance, my fiance, my BFF and her fiance pitched in on a gift for a friend and we all signed on one line (since the reception table numbers each gift and envelope with the line number signed in the guest book to correspond with the gifts... so that the bride and groom know who each gift is from).

Because a lot of guests dont know to sign the book or basically forget about it, my cousin had each table write something during the wait between meal courses on seperate pages (my table wrote the coolest funniest poem lol) these pages were then readout during the best mans speach %26amp; eventually the poems/stories etc were added to the back of the guest book :o)
Try to get someone making a speach to remind everyone to sign the book or else you will end up with little signatures. Oh yeah, some people only sign their name too, never write anything else.

Why junkmail from signing guestbook?
Recently I signed the guestbook for a life-long friend's funeral in Houston. Today I received a junkmail from : jacob13williams@yahoo.com which is in very bad taste-to say the least. It had in the subject line "Guest Book for Jerry Fankhauser". I find this to be very offensive, and in very bad taste. Is there nothing that can be done to stop this kind of garbage?

Hi, I have Joomla 1.0 and I have tried installing the guestbook component from this following link: http://www.webmaster-tips.net/joomla-com...
Now, the installation worked and it is displaying fine on the site except when you post a message, it does not submit and therefore is no use. Please help me to resolve this error, Thanks, Matt :) !

Wedding Guestbook Alternatives?!?!?!?!?
Does anyone have any ideas to do instead of just the guestbook? I am debating doing a picture framing (one wher ethey sign it) But I was just wondering if anyone else has or is doing something different out there? My fiance hates clutter and I hate the thought of stashing a nice guestbook just up in a closet somewhere, so I would like to have it be something we can have around our home as a reminder of the day?!?! We are having a beach wedding too if that helps! Thanks! :)

A really fun alternative, and something that you could display instead of putting in a closet for some fun memories and a few laughs.

It looks much more elegant than the typical sharpie markers on a white paper board, anf they guarantee the etchings will last forever. Is looks nice enough to actually want to put in my house, it comes framed in a nice black wood frame
Reply:instead of a guest book you could have just sheets of nice paper that people fill out and you could tell them ahead of time to bring their favorite photo of themselves or the two of you together. Then they can each take this piece of paper and write congratulatory things on it, put the picture on there and decorate their page however they want. Then when you have them all, put them all together in a scrapbook type of thing.
I'm doing the photo frame idea. I think it'll look so cool up on my wall!

Still a guest book but a little cooler is those Polaroid guest books. You get a camera and leave it on a table. People take pix and then place them in the book and sign it. So it serves two purposes they sign and they have something to do.
They have simple looking covers and you could have it in a book case and it wouldn't look like clutter!

Reply:What a lot of people do (my own wedding included) is have a traditional guest book at the church (or wherever you're having your ceremony), and a fun alternative at the reception. That way, people can put their names and addresses in the guestbook, and write a note to you on your "alternative guest book." At our wedding, we did the framed and matted picture. I've also seen scrapbook pages (if you plan to scrapbook your wedding), Christmas ornaments (5-10 signatures per ornament, and then you can hang them on your tree every year), and even a skateboard!
Really, you can pick any large object with at least one semi-flat surface that's meaningful to you or that is pretty and that you'd like to display - a plate, a wall-hanging, a large white pot to put plants in, etc. You could even have someone you know make you a quilt in your wedding colors (or buy one), and have people sign the quilt squares with fabric markers. OR, you could leave white, un-finished quilt squares out for people to sign, and then have someone combine those with pieces of fabric that are meaningful to you (pieces from your wedding gown, beach-themed fabric to represent your wedding, a piece of your mom or grandma's wedding gown, etc) and have those made into a quilt.

i want to make my own guestbook for my wedding. does anyone have any creative ideas on how to make your own? i dont want anything too traditional..something the guests can have fun with!

We used invisible ink to make lines on pages of a scrapbook. We asked guests to write some advice, thoughts, etc. and then sign it for us. We then took pictures that our photographer had taken of our guests and put them with the writings. The ink disappeared in 72 hours so you couldn't tell it had been there but the writing was perfectly straight and looked really nice.
Reply:This would be a two part deal. Create a wishing tree. Get a large fake tree, or a large branch that you put in a pot and hold in place with plaster of paris or concrete. Cut out little squares and attached a ribbon that has been looped so it can be hung on the tree. Guests can write what they'd like and hang it on the tree (it'll look really lovely). Then when the wedding is over you will remove the ribbons and place the squares in a scrapbook and you can decorate with pictures and fun colors.
PS. you'll want to put up sign or note that explains what you're doing and the instructions for the guests.

Throw it in your oven for a bit and the signatures (signed with special pens) become permanent. Nice little decor piece to have in the house instead of a book you won't ever look at.
