Unique idea in place of guestbook?

Does anyone have any ideas on what can be done instead of a guestbook for well wishes for the married couple?

Instead of a guest book, we did a take on a Japanese custom of tying wishes to tree branches, in our case we used fake cherry blossom branches to make our "tree". But you could use any kind of flowering tree, or beautiful branches.

Reply:Look at My Jean M website in the guest book section. There is a small box with notecards you can buy that say Wedding Days Wishes. People can write messages on them. It is so cute.

if you quilt 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 inch squares of light fabric to then make into a wedding quilt





i will warn you that i have seen the 1st two of these done. without fail you WILL have some smart a** friend decide to write something like "she got her's now he'll get his." or "Joe's finally gonna get some - congrats!" i think its smarter just to have them sign their names (like the scroll) so people don't feel obligated to think of something witty (or in most cases stupid or crude).

have some pictures of us.. on one side.. and than on the other side have a place for people to sign their names.. comment or something
Reply:How about putting out a favorite childrens book and having them sign the pages of that? There are also platters that can be glazed after they sign, or a picture frame to frame your wedding photo, and your guests can sign the matting. Even just making up cute scrapbook pages to be signed can be cool.





My favorite thing I've seen lately is just a big blank book . . . but the couple rents a photo booth for the reception and the guests have their pictures done and stick them in the guest book next to their signatures. It's a little spendy, but oh so cool!
Reply:I saw the other day someone took a twig/branch and had everyone write out a quote or saying for the couple and tied it to the twig branches. You could also take pieces of pottery or a scultpure and have people sign it so that it could be displayed in your home. You could even take a mirror and have people sign it...kinda like the picture and matting idea... You could also have someone with a video camera, and as guests enter they could record a short message for the couple so then you could always pop it in and see it...
Reply:Our photographer had everyone sign the inside covers and front and back blank pages of our Wedding Album.
Reply:Get an old-fashioned polaroid and have them take pictures of themselves. Put it next to a sharpie and a cork board with pins....they'll get the idea.

Reply:You can use a signature plant or autograph frame you can buy them at walmart, if you want to be crafty you can make it
Reply:Well, this is still a guest book but it's done differently. You can either do one of two things. Send everyone you're inviting a piece of paper that you want in your "guest book" and have them writing stories/memories they have of you and or your fiance, etc. Or at the actual wedding you take a picture of them, place it in the guest book and they sign it with again stories, best wishes, advice, etc. Both are more personal and fun to look through later than just signing their names. The first 2 answers would have been another suggestion.
Reply:have a picture of the couple framed without glass and have a matte that guest can write their wishes for them or just sign there name.
Reply:Recently, I saw a couple use a blank wooden surf board for the guests to write their well-wishes. I know that the couple is an active outdoors-type, so this object is something significant for their lifestyle.


If you can find an object that represents your lifestyle as a couple and incorporate that for a signing, that should work beautifully.


Or, how about having a memory box with sign-in paper for everyone to place inside the box (if you don't like the conventional items you can even design/make it yourself). Then you and your spouse can read everyone's well wishes later on and keep them for years to come.

Reply:You could do a scrapbook page. Put some of your bridal pictures on the pages, and then have them sign that instead. You will always have your wedding album. A guest book well what can you do with that?
Reply:You can buy a picture frame for your favorite wedding picture, and have people sign the matting that goes around it.
