Guestbook Idea?

I want to do something different than a regular guestbook. I love to scrapbook so my idea is to buy a scrapbook and decorate it, put some embellishments and such and leave room for people to sign, and also fo me to put pictures in later to make it really personal. What do you think?

Guestbook Idea?
I did that for my wedding. But you have to be careful. the problem i had was since it wasn't an actual "guest book" people kind of by passed it. I had a note set up buy it telling people to sign and leave a message. All I got was maybe 30 people signing their names in a single file line. I was very bummed. especially since i had close to 150-200 people attend. but if you can get it to work, I think it's a very cute idea. My advice would be to find someone willing (like maybe a young niece) to sit next to it and let people know what is going on. they would only have to be like 12-14 and that way none of your guests or friends/close family miss out on anything and you still get signatures.
Reply:We are having our engagment picture up on an easel in a big 20x20 frame with the signing mat around it for our guests to sign instead of a guestbook. I think this is an awesome idea and something you will be able to hang up to show all your guests in your home.

Good luck!
Reply:Looks like this is going away- but you can hurry and order it.

I bought this kit for a scrapbook we did for my parents 40th. It has lined pages in it. The lines are on the back of the regular paper. You could just set the lined pages out for the guest book and then add it to your scrapbook.

Edit**

I love Mary's Idea
Reply:I did something similar to this. I bought black mat board and had it cut down to the size I wanted, backed it together...and then had Kinkos bind it for me. I embellished it and marked areas off for pictures to be inserted later...

I bought gold and silver sharpee pens and had the guests sign the book all over the place.

It turned out really really cute. People did end up signing in the spaces where the photos go though...so I would suggest putting temporary photos in there for now, or just paper with a note of what you want to go in that spot, so people know not to write in that area.
Reply:cute. it could be a really neat thing.

we had a picture mat that we had our guests sign. different %26amp; fresh.
Reply:you could have loose pages for your scrap book and keep them all out for people to see so they know to sign, then assemble later.

Or you can instuct people to find something in the room to sign and drop it in a bowl (like napkins, name cards, wrapping paper scraps etc.) this way you can have physical pieces to put in your scrap book that are all different and unique. Keep some colored paper squares next to the bowl as well for people who just want to sign and not have to find something
Reply:Love the idea =) I am doing something similar ~ used the instruction from this website to make our guestbook myself.

We also made our own invitations. So for the guestbook, I bought/used a lot of the same paper, supplies, etc. It matches the invitations nicely ~ which is important to an anal person like me, lol :)
Reply:Love the idea! I might steal it :P
Reply:For my wedding I'm doing a photo guest book. Everyone who comes to the wedding will have their picture taken and will sign on a page. Later the pictures will be developed and put in on the page they signed. Most people know everyone who comes to the wedding so it wouldn't be a problem but if you are having people come that you don't really know you could have the photographer give the guests a photo number to put on their page. You could add more scrapbooking to it after that too if you want.

Or, you could have people sign on different paper and also have their pictures taken and put that into a scrapbook.

Good luck. Remember to enjoy your wedding!
Reply:I WENT TO A WEDDING THE OTHER DAY AND THE BRIDE DID THE FOLLOWING. THE GUEST SIGN BOOK WAS A BIG BOOK WAS OF SPAIN. THIS WAS THE PLACE WHERE THEY WOULD BE GOING ON THEIR HONEYMOON. YOU JUST HAVE TO CHOOSE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU LIKE OR DO SCRAPBOOK OF YOU AND YOUR BOYFRIEND WITH PLACES FOR PEOPLE TO SIGN IN. I AM SURE THAT PEOPLE WILL UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS WERE THEY ARE SIGN
Reply:i love the idea a friend did that for her wedding and it did not work. She had to tell the DJ to tell people what to do and still people were not int rested. It could of been that her cocktail hour was so great everyone wanted to dive into that .
Reply:I love it, It's your wedding, do what will make you happy ten years from now.
Reply:I went to http://www.guestbookstore.com/

and created my own guestbook.....it was SO awesome, and a big hit...and SO fun to read after the wedding! It is similar to the scrapbooking thing you like to do. Just have some colored pencils or markers out....my sister also found cutsie wedding themed stickers to put next to the book so that guests could decorate....

LOVED IT!!!
Reply:The scrapbook idea is great, we're doing that. But instead, we're putting pics of us and our guests in it BEFORE the wedding so that we have some great memories to share on our day! We're going to get crazy colored pens and let our guests sign our guest book with whatever messages they want.
Reply:neat idea just make sure u have someone standing there to greet people and to instruct people on what they're supposed to do with it,(since it's out of the ordinary)
Reply:I was at a wedding where the couple put out a bunch of colored gel pens and those "scrap" pieces of scrapbook paper (you know the stuff you buy in a bag with all different colors, textures, etc). Each piece was big enough to write on, but small enough that she could use them later adhere to the pages with the pictures. That way she didn't have to worry about everyone only signing on one page or signing in places you would want to put a picture. She did have a traditional guestbook also on the same table. The other area had a sign giving the guests instructions to write a bit of advice or well wishes. Took some prep, but her scrapbook is really cute.
Reply:I think that's a great idea! I would do one thing for your guests. You can get a disappearing ink pen. The ink stays on the paper for 24-48 hours. Make lines for your guests to sign on. Once 48 hours have passed, the lines disappear and you have some beautiful handwriting or at least straight hand writing in your scrapbook.
Reply:It sounds good to me! I wish I had the time and talent to do something like that.
