Classmates.com says I have 61 visitors, 5 people that have signed my guestbook, & 2 left notes on my "board" ?

I do know one person that left a message on my board and she must have a gold membership since I could read it. My question is... with all of the scamming I'm hearing Classmates.com is doing (putting fake people in there as your "visitors") - what are the odds that those 5 people that signed my guest book and the other person who left a message are real? Recently Classmates has now added the beginning words to the mystery person that left something on my bulletin board and it says "Hello (my name)... our family says hi and th....." , Seems like a rip, but for a few dollars I'd be willing to view it if I knew it were real. I am also aware that it is very hard to get rid of them trying to bill your account after you cancel.

I think you answered your own question with that last sentence. It might be more than a "few dollars," not to mention the stress you'd have with the hassle.

Materials:

Guest book

Satin or brocade fabric

Large heart-shaped frame

Adhesive-backed ruffled ribbon

Quilt batting

Craft pearls on a string

Silk roses

Ribbon

Fabric embroidered with the word guests

Remove the pages from the guest book.

Open and place the guest book flat on the wrong side of the fabric. Cut the fabric large enough to leave 1" excess fabric all the way around the book.

Apply fabric glue to each of the four corners on the inside of the cover. Pull the fabric around to the inside, and secure to each of the corners. Run a line of glue along the sides, top and bottom of the book on the inside of the cover, and glue the fabric down, covering the book (figure G).

On the inside of the back cover, place adhesive-backed ruffled ribbon along the raw edges of the fabric to cover them. The ribbon will extend beyond the edges of the cover of the book to create a decorative border (figure H).

Cut a piece of adhesive-backed ruffled ribbon the length of the front cover of the book from top to bottom, with a little extra to go around to the inside. Place it on the front of the book approximately 2" from the center, parallel with the rings of the book.

Complete the placement of adhesive-backed ruffled ribbon around the inside front cover of the book as described in step 5.

To decorate the front of the book, make a padded heart as described above, using a large heart-shaped frame. Decorate the edge of the heart with pearls. Slide a decorative piece of needlework embroidered with the word guests into the center of the heart. Embellish with additional pearls, ribbon and flowers, if desired, and replace the pages (figure I).

Im sure that seems fairly straight forward to you php geniuses!

I have linked the GUESTBOOK.PHP page to my index and when you click onto the link it comes up with the form to add to the guestbook - as I expected.

When I try adding to the guestbook I get an error message that reads "CANNOT SELECT DB"

Further - if I try to view ADDGUESTBOOK.PHP or VIEWGUESTBOOK.PHP I get the same message.

It is obvious that it cannot select the database .... i'm just not sure why! Am I right in thinking that it is connecting to mysql but not finding the database within?

I have set up the mysql on my web server etc - it must just be something small! Aggggghhhhhhhh! Any idea's?!

That sounds right; maybe caps is an issue? You capitalized the name way at the top but not in the codes, I'm not positive if the real name is capitalized, but it will not let you connect if the cases are different.

Blog engines like Blogger and Wordpress have comments and guest book like functionality built in. You could roll your own, but that might take a little dynamic programming (like with ASP.Net or PHP). I posted an entry to a guestbook on a Geocities website 10 years ago. I happened to come across it recently, and it is embarrassing as hell. Regretably, I used my real name, and I'm afraid one of my friends, coworkers, or family members might come across it when they search for my name. I have been unable to contact the person who created the page (her email no longer works), Geocities was no help, etc. Is there any way to have the page taken down or at least have my entry removed?

It is powered by Website Tonight from GoDaddy. I asked my sister to sign it as the first person - she tried it on 2 different occassions and nothing posted!

I haven't used the system so I can't be specific but it will be in your administration area or perhaps it will be called site management. Somewhere, there is a section for you to control what happens when people interact on your site so start going through all the links available for you to manage ANYTHING on your site and you'll definitely find it.

I've used similar things and that's why I suggest looking for administration or moderating sections.

Should I have my guestbook out for the ceremony or reception?

We are having our ceremony and reception at the same location (a restaurant). The ceremony will be on an outdoor terrace and the reception in a room indoors. There will also be a cocktail hour in between in a room just inside from the ceremony terrace. Here's the schedule:

4:00 - ceremony on terrace

5:00 - cocktail hour inside from terrace

6:00 - reception in separate room

I'm wondering where the guestbook should be set out for people. My brother and my fiance's sister's fiance will be seating people for the ceremony, and we could have my fiance's sister man the guestbook during that time, or also seat people for the ceremony and then man the guestbook just before the reception. I just don't know when/where the guestbook is normally put because I haven't been to a wedding in like 15 years. Any help? Thanks.

Reply:Have it in all spots. If it were me, it would be one persons job to move the guestbook from place to place. Some of your guests may have to leave after the ceremony or will only come for the reception. Have a little table or stand near the entrance of each place and have someone move the guest book as the day goes on. They don't have to stand by the guest book at the reception, but have it in a location that people will see.
Reply:I have mainly seen them at receptions when you first walk in the door by the place card table. The best thing I saw was a 8x10 frame matte with a picture of the couple in it and you were asked to sign that. The bride has it displayed in her house with their wedding picture over it. It is filled with blessings and loving words from family and friends and totally beats a guestbook that you will never look at again!

there really are very few rules these days, only very old people hang on to things like that anymore and most of them just reilize that things change with time so they are ok with it.

so at weddings it is normally at the reception exspecially if you are having one where they are wrighting a message.

funerals is the only time/ event where the guestbook has to go at the service when they first come in.

I'm curious

I've got a PHP Guestbook on my website with the tables and database hosted by MySQL.

The PHP Guestbook defines the look, as well as how it's displayed (referencing the MySQL database).

I've got a couple of TEST logs in the guestbook that are now viiewable on the site.

My question is, how do I manage/delete these?

It should be located SOMEWHERE on the MySQL Database right?

I assume all the data is logged there, is that correct?

If so, can you direct me as to where i should look?

The easiest method would be to use a managing program such as phpmyadmin to log into the database and browse the entries. If your host has php and MySQL then one would hope there is some sort of DB browser included in the package.
Reply:Who are you hosted with? I'm surprised that the PHP Guestbook doesn't allow you to manage entries, but nonetheless, if you've got access to the MySQL db (depending on your hosting provider), you can use their console to view the records and delete the ones you want. Typically this is through an interface like phpMyAdmin, but your hosting company would know - if you've got that info, let me know and I might be able to walk you through it.

does anyone know what happened to yahoo's advanced guest book feature? It used to be available in Web Hosting Control Panel under advance tools. Its gone now. I use this for work as a log book. Employess use it to post ongoings of our Motel. Does any one have an idea where i can find this now? I dont have the patience to call yahoo, (very poor past experiences). I also do not need all the extra bells and whistles of the other tools they offer, besides, some of them have glirtches that yahoo wont address.

I downloaded a guestbook from layoutcodez.com about 3 months ago and have had no problems with it. About 4 days ago I checked my page and the pics people posted on the guestbook were gone.ALL OF THEM. I tried cutting then re adding to my page and even moved other things around but the guestbook is now totally blank. I've looked for answers on the site i got the guestbook(ha ha no luck or answers) and searched blogs/forums/ everything with no luck I dont want to delete it becuz my sons father posted a pic w/ a comment and he just passed away 3 weeks ago so please someone help and tell me is there any luck or if some1 else has experienced this or what could've happened would be much appreciated

if you're using Windows, you don't have to sorry about chmod. Just right-click on the file, and make sure that it isn't marked "read only." It probably isn't. You'll probably be just fine if you just put the file in the right place and go. :-)

I really hate the questions Celebrity couple, what will the names be, and draw a picture. I think you'll get a lot of "I don't know" type of answers. Plus unless everyone knows you really really want children, if someone says No kids--the next couple questions are blank.

I love how do you know them and words of wisdom. A couple of quick questions would be fun. Prediction type questions.

If you rent, when do you think they will buy their first house? Or where do you think they will move with multiple choice. (_) never move more than 30 min away (_) out of state but not more than 8 hrs (_) leave the country within 5 years

I really like the first one because it is more elegant than the rest.

If your flowers are roses, then I would pick the second one to match.

I think the third one is a little childish unless it fits in with your reception decor.

I ditched the guest "book" idea and just bought a guest matte...where the guests sign the 11x16 matte and you place a 5x7 picture of you and your groom in the center. You can display it on a shelf or hang it up on the wall.

All you need to do is go to any craft store or art supply store. Pick up a nice leatherbound sketchbook and a variety of markers. Then get some satin (lets say red) and cover the book. Wrap a stripe of pink tulle around the front of the book like the one from Davids. On top of the tulle wrap a wide white ribbon then one or two gold cords. Voila! Custom made wedding guest book with all your colors.

For the pens use silk flowers and floral tape. Keep them in a vase and your pens will double as decoration for the guest book table.

Reply:I would go with the cheapest one because your guest book is going to go back into it's box and you'll probably never look at it again. Your pictures and video are what you'll be looking at and going back to. The rest just collects dust. I wouldn't even spend $27 on a guest book I think that's too much for a book that will never be looked at or cared about again. I'm really glad we didn't spend much on ours. It looked nice but it wasn't expensive which is a good thing in hindsight.

There are listed on my 360 page older comments in my guest-book ( about 3 to 4 days ago) and the new comments that got alerted in yahoo mail can not be reached! The same is in my 360 mailbox! Older invites, which I have already answered, are still shown as pending and newer invites I can't reach! The same is with messages in 360 mailbox! In Yahoo-Mail I get alerts about new invites, comments and messages and if I want to read them, I get an error sign and then window jumps back to that older messages, invites or comments! How can this problem become solved?

Nothing can be done by you, in terms of fixing the problem.

This is likely a common 360 glitch. If your mailbox and/or comment box was working fine before and suddenly it's not working (i.e. all that's in your question details), then you'll have to wait this out and hope that the problem is "miraculously" resolved soon.

Sometimes this glitch is relieved temporarily during certain times of the day. It would be up to you to check throughout the day to see if the comment box is working correctly at any point in time.

When the Yahoo servers get backed up, then you will see this happen more often, as well as maybe delayed alerts. In the meantime, you can ask people to post comments to your Blog, if it's activated. You can use your blast or blog to make an announcement about the problem.

The picture-frame mat, the plate/vase/tray, the quilt, the card-wish-in-the-jar, and the picture puzzle just aren't unique anymore. They are everywhere! I have found one website that does the fill-in-the-blank pages... www.guestbookstore.com .... which is a great idea. But only half my wedding guest speak English, so those non-English speakers would be excluded. Not what I want to have happen!

I know what you are talking about! it was a Polaroid camera that had a sticky backing. When I was a kid we stuck the pics in our lockers. The Polaroid website lists it as the izone or izone 200 but it is no longer manufactured. maybe you can find one on ebay. Or just get a regular Polaroid camera and some good crafting glue.
Reply:Sorry, I think the only thing I can suggest is a compact digital camera, that way you can adjust the photos yourself and even re-size and print them yourself using your computer and as necessary photo editor software. I leave you with this thought: "A picture is worth a thousand words."

Using HTML it is not possible. You have to select any server side scripting, like (PHP, JAVA, ASP or .NET).

Then using html you can create a textarea and using server side scripting you can take those values and put it into your database or file system. After that you can display those as you want.

Also just because we never met doesn't make a difference. We are all people and more people need to start opening their hearts to the ones they don't know instead of worring about themselves all the time. and look at my new guestbook code and tell me how to paste this new "guestbook" into my "Blast". It can be done because I have seen it on some one elses 360 but cannot find the 360 page I saw it on. This will keep the guestbook up front at all times. When you get to my blog and guestbook you should be able to right click and copy or just left click and it will take you to the hosting page.

My new Guestbook.?
I have one of those on my page. What I did was to post it in a blog...like you did...but I gave it a TAG. I noticed that you didn't give yours a TAG. You can still do this by going to that blog with your Guestbook in it...and click on EDIT. Then at the bottom of your blog entry box there is the option to asign a TAG to that blog. Just type something in there and click save.

Once you have it TAGGED you can go to your Tag Cloud (it will show up on the left hand side of your My Blog page) and click on that tag that you just made. It will take you to your Guestbook blog...and that will be the ONLY blog on that page...instead of that one and the previous 4 that you had posted. Now you just need to copy the address that is up in your address bar and paste THAT into your URL section of your Blast. Don't forget to also type something into your Blast field or it wont save your URL.

That is how I put my Guestbook link into my Blast.

So your using the guestbook that freewebs provides for you im guessing... So no you cant add anything to it as of now. Im not an expert in HTML but there is probably a Guestbook generator site (look in google) that will give you a HTML code to put into your site and you can add things around it.

So we have decide to do one of these guest books http://www.guestbookstore.com/wedding.ht... . We had been having a lot of trouble figuring out the logistics of the whole thing. Our venue (who is doing all of the set up and breakdown) said that they could place one of the pages and a pen on each of the guests seats of the ceremony, along with a program, then they would have it with them to take to the cocktail hour when they could fill it out. I would either put in the program or attach a note to the pen explaining they should fill it out during the cocktail hour.

I am about the order the guest book but before I do I just want to check that this will likely work. I know not everyone will fill out one but I think all of the people who actually matter will. I feel like I am wasting a lot of money putting one of each and every seat but there is no way to know which seat is going to be occupied by who, and we do not have someone to hand out the programs/guest book pages to each person.

Would this work for my guestbook?
Tough one...I would definitely worry about wasting money on all of the pages that do not get filled out...especially since you will have a lot of couples and only one will probably fill it out for the both. Can you go through your RSVPs and do a rough estimate?

I would consider doing everyother chair. People will see them even if there isn't one on their chair. And if they want to fill one out, then I'm sure they will use someone's that is not being filled out. Just a thought...its a tough one. I didn't look at the price of them but I'm sure they aren't cheap.

Reply:We are actually hoping to do something similar at our wedding, I thought the price was a little high so I went to DIY bride and found out in her Downloads section she has a guestbook page that is very similar to the one you are looking at, it doesn't have the fancy flourishes on it but you could easily find and download those for free, I downloaded her page and was easily able to change colors, box shapes, lines, fonts, and move things around so it was really personal to us. I am going to have it printed on nice scrapbook paper that I will get on sale at Hobby Lobby or Micheals and then I will just insert it into the scrapbook of our choice, much cheaper option I think and that way I can have one for every guest, if they would like. I have heard people say that they rolled them like a scroll and put them on tables or at peoples chairs and had a couple of pens at each table that people could share, that might be a little difficult to make them flat again, but I like your idea about one per chair, or perhaps have them on a table like you would a regular guest book and people can take them as they enter or exit. Typcially you put it at the entrance of the reception site and have a hostess or usher direct people to sign it if they didn't already. Your venue should be able to give you a table or lectern to use to sit the book on.

Reply:Where the seating cards are or inside on the table where the gifts will be placed. If you have a table in the entrance where you seating cards are and you place it there people will see it when they pick up their seating cards and if they can't sign it them they will remember to go back. You can also remind people to sign it, have the dj tell people to do it.
Reply:Just leave it at the table at the entrance to the reception. However, don't leave the gifts or cards unattended.
Reply:If all the guest have entered for the wedding then put it in the entrance for the reception.

If all the guest have entered for the reception then put it at the main exit of the reception.
Reply:have it passed around from one table to the next so that every table can pass it around.
Reply:Keep it in the foyer of the building or church, then have it set up inside the door of the reception. Not everyone comes to both, and this will ensure that it will get signed by everyone.

2. The data is stored in a table named "guestbook" and the fields are: "name", "location", "email" and "message".

I went to a wake last night.. our neighbors wife passed away. I went with another neighbor and his wife. After I signed the guestbook, he turned to me and said "Are you going to sign your sister/brother in laws names?' ( They chose not to go). I have never been asked to sign someone's name who wasn't there and it took me off guard. What is the proper guestbook etiquette...anyone know ??

The guest book at the funeral home is for people who actually go to the funeral home. You should never sign anyone's name that didn't actually show up there. If your sister/brother in law sent flowers, donations, etc., then that's a different matter. The family should see to it that the appropriate thanks you's are sent accordingly.
Reply:If your in-laws CHOSE not to go then you shouldn't sign their names. If they COULDN'T go, then it's OK to sign their names. At funerals it's sometimes important to show that a family was represented there. This is for the benefit of the grieving family. It let's them know that your family cares. It also serves to help them out by sending one Thank You card for a whole family as opposed to sending many individual ones. Use your judgment and remember why you went there to begin with.

Go to your mail and that should say someone signed your guestbook.

If you have done that then on your guestbook section it should say hide/edit. Click edit and it should show you all of them.

I personally dont like the guestbook because people can only sign once, so I put all my guestbook signings on my blog and then delete them from the guestbook.

You do have space with yahoo unless you require your own domain name. i.e. mydomain.co.uk instead of mydomain.yahoo.co.uk

You are not going to find a lot for your money (拢2pm)... however as a start you could try surftown (link below) they start at 拢0.99pm, or even fasthost (link below) @ 拢3.99pm.

Rather than using the hosting facilities it might be wise to get a good book on php, html and java that you could design and code your own site. Or to speed up the process use frontpage or dreamweaver.

I tend to code my sites using notepad or flash, unless speed of the essence is needed, then i tend to use dreamweaver.

1and1 are very good but can be on the expensive side. That said no more than anyohter good hosting company and do start from 拢2.34pm inc VAT.

But be WARNED you only get what you pay for - so do your research. My adice 1and1.co.uk might be your best bet, good after sales care and online tech help.

You need an absolute URL (one that begins with http://www.[domainname].com or something similar).

Find out your permanent link to the blog entry that contains your guestbook:

When you click "permanent link" at the bottom of an entry, you will see that the page will refresh and that the URL at the top changes. If you want someone to see that specific blog entry, thus avoiding scrolling through all your entries, copy that link on the browser's address bar (Ctrl+C, Right-click on it and choose copy, or Edit menu - Copy).

Then, you can paste that entire URL address in your blast and save the changes.

Most ISPs have prepackaged guestbook programs that you can plug into your website. There're 3 basic pieces:

1) The form - This is the web page where the guest enters their name and other information

2) The server-side program - This is a program sitting on the web server that reads the information that your guest uploads using the form, and writes it to a file or database on the web server. This program can be written in any language -- PERL, Java, VisualBasic, etc.

3) Database or file to store uploaded information

Also, once you have a collection of guest information, you'll need some way to read it. Ask your ISP for more info.

My sister in law had the frame at her wedding and it now is sitting in our garage because they don't have room in their garage (and obviously don't want to hang it in their house). We have the frame option included with our engagement session through our photographer but we are going to purchase the Polaroid guest book option. It's all about personal preference and I know that hanging a signed photo isn't our thing. Do you think you will hang your frame up or keep it in a closet? Not to mention, with the signature guest book you can get some good pics of your guests all dressed up for your big day! Wow, the site you provided is cheaper than anything I've found for the book option...thanks for adding that into the question!
Reply:Either of these make very awsome memories for a wedding. If cost is a problem, both of these items are chaper elsewhere. If you go to www.orientaltrading.com, you can find the frame guestbook for like $20. You can go to any craft store and get the photo for like $20 and pick any color or design you want.

If you took these alternative ideas, you could have BOTH of the memory ideas with spending less money for both than just the cost of one.
Reply:I went to a wedding recently where they bought a standard guest book and someone was there with a polaroid camera.

They took photos of the guests on the night and as it was polaroid film and self adhesive they stuck the photo in next to the guests message.

Reply:Well the "digital photo guestbook" is just a plain photo album with a tiny silver plate on the front of it. $10 for the album, $5 for the plate.

The picture frame is a plain white matted opening. With one that simple you might pay $25 if you get it on sale at a craft store.

Either way "Yolanda" is way overpriced. But I would choose the picture. The "digital guest book" is no different than any other photo album on the face of this earth...AND is only has 15 pages....what is up with that?

For my wedding, I had people sign/decorate cotton squares with fabric crayon. I ironed the seam allowance on beforehand. After the wedding, I heat set the crayon (per manufacturer's instructions) and top stitched the patches to a fleece blanket. Now I have a guest book quilt! If you know how to quilt for real, you could make the squares into a real quilt.
Reply:We used card stock cut into squares and asked guests to sign and put either their wishes for the couple or their best piece of marriage advice. We had a fish bowl type container to put the cards in. These were a hit!!

If you want the comment saved it has to be php (or ASP if you're on a Microsoft server). Do a web search for php scripts or download http://coveryourasp.com/ for ASP scripts. As far as adding them to your particular blog, you'll have to do that yourself, since every blog will require different coding. Chat can be done in Javascript but, again, you'll have to customize any script you find. (You can't "do" anything in HTML, since HTML isn;t programming, it's content.)

Because a lot of guests dont know to sign the book or basically forget about it, my cousin had each table write something during the wait between meal courses on seperate pages (my table wrote the coolest funniest poem lol) these pages were then readout during the best mans speach %26amp; eventually the poems/stories etc were added to the back of the guest book :o)

Try to get someone making a speach to remind everyone to sign the book or else you will end up with little signatures. Oh yeah, some people only sign their name too, never write anything else.

Why junkmail from signing guestbook?

Recently I signed the guestbook for a life-long friend's funeral in Houston. Today I received a junkmail from : jacob13williams@yahoo.com which is in very bad taste-to say the least. It had in the subject line "Guest Book for Jerry Fankhauser". I find this to be very offensive, and in very bad taste. Is there nothing that can be done to stop this kind of garbage?

Does anyone have any ideas to do instead of just the guestbook? I am debating doing a picture framing (one wher ethey sign it) But I was just wondering if anyone else has or is doing something different out there? My fiance hates clutter and I hate the thought of stashing a nice guestbook just up in a closet somewhere, so I would like to have it be something we can have around our home as a reminder of the day?!?! I am having a becah wedding. You could do a pail and then do wedding wish bucket or vase as I am doing. Someone from the shower got me the vase and can't open it up till a year later.

Reply:Well, we are doing a guestbook, but it's not the traditional guestbook. The guests have a front and back section to fill out, so it's a lot more personalized than just the names. A really fun alternative, and something that you could display instead of putting in a closet for some fun memories and a few laughs.

Reply:We are doing a framed picture, but instead of a mat board where people write with markers, we found one that you actually etch the message into a metal mat board with a special engraving pen. It looks much more elegant than the typical sharpie markers on a white paper board, anf they guarantee the etchings will last forever. Reply:instead of a guest book you could have just sheets of nice paper that people fill out and you could tell them ahead of time to bring their favorite photo of themselves or the two of you together. Then they can each take this piece of paper and write congratulatory things on it, put the picture on there and decorate their page however they want. Then when you have them all, put them all together in a scrapbook type of thing.

I'm doing the photo frame idea. I think it'll look so cool up on my wall!

I'm not sure how many guests you have coming but if it's not too many, you could have garden stones that people can sign, then have them treated so that it wont come off. Put them in your yard as reminders, along a walkway or something.

We are having a tree that will hold cards that people can sign and wish us well on... I've included the poem that we will have next to the tree at the reception. I will then put the cards in a scrapbook.

Still a guest book but a little cooler is those Polaroid guest books. You get a camera and leave it on a table. People take pix and then place them in the book and sign it. So it serves two purposes they sign and they have something to do.

They have simple looking covers and you could have it in a book case and it wouldn't look like clutter!
Reply:I'm not sure if this helps you at all, but instead of having a book just for the signatures, I had a few sheets of decorative paper for signing. I then had those scanned as images %26amp; inserted in the back of our photo book I made with our wedding pictures through Blurb.com. This way we have one wedding album %26amp; our guest signatures are contained therein.
Reply:At my dads wedding, Polaroid pictures were taken, with little messages written on the back. They were then all put onto a big board which he put up in the kitchen.

Reply:What a lot of people do (my own wedding included) is have a traditional guest book at the church (or wherever you're having your ceremony), and a fun alternative at the reception. That way, people can put their names and addresses in the guestbook, and write a note to you on your "alternative guest book." At our wedding, we did the framed and matted picture. I've also seen scrapbook pages (if you plan to scrapbook your wedding), Christmas ornaments (5-10 signatures per ornament, and then you can hang them on your tree every year), and even a skateboard!

Really, you can pick any large object with at least one semi-flat surface that's meaningful to you or that is pretty and that you'd like to display - a plate, a wall-hanging, a large white pot to put plants in, etc. You could even have someone you know make you a quilt in your wedding colors (or buy one), and have people sign the quilt squares with fabric markers. OR, you could leave white, un-finished quilt squares out for people to sign, and then have someone combine those with pieces of fabric that are meaningful to you (pieces from your wedding gown, beach-themed fabric to represent your wedding, a piece of your mom or grandma's wedding gown, etc) and have those made into a quilt.

DIY guestbook?
We used invisible ink to make lines on pages of a scrapbook. We asked guests to write some advice, thoughts, etc. and then sign it for us. We then took pictures that our photographer had taken of our guests and put them with the writings. The ink disappeared in 72 hours so you couldn't tell it had been there but the writing was perfectly straight and looked really nice.
Reply:This would be a two part deal. Create a wishing tree. Get a large fake tree, or a large branch that you put in a pot and hold in place with plaster of paris or concrete. Cut out little squares and attached a ribbon that has been looped so it can be hung on the tree. Guests can write what they'd like and hang it on the tree (it'll look really lovely). Then when the wedding is over you will remove the ribbons and place the squares in a scrapbook and you can decorate with pictures and fun colors.

PS. you'll want to put up sign or note that explains what you're doing and the instructions for the guests.

Reply:I cut out 4x6 pieces of cardstock that matched our wedding and just laid them out on the table with some pens. The guests wrote their well wishes on them and then we put them in a photo album next to a picture of them at the reception.

Reply:I'm not doing a guest book. I'm ordering one of those ceramic signature plates (google them) and am having the guests sign that. Throw it in your oven for a bit and the signatures (signed with special pens) become permanent. Nice little decor piece to have in the house instead of a book you won't ever look at.

Just be creative I know you will come up with something.
Reply:make it into a scrapbook, or include it in your wedding scrapbook. you can space out the signature and add pictures accordingly and add photos from the ceremony and reception. odds are that you are bound to look at a scrapbook more often than a plain photo album because it is personalized and has more color and life to it.
Reply:One cool idea I'm considering is having a wine bottle sitting at the entrance, then the guests write good wishes or just sign the bottle with special pens. Then you can save the wine for your one or five year anniversary.

Basically a pretty glass dish , some blank cards and a couple of pens.We asked guests to write down some advice, or a memory of either the bride or groom or even draw a picture if they wanted to. They put the completed cards in the bowl and my mother made a scrapbook for us after the wedding and she used the cards. We got a bit of everything, some cleaner than others (we didn't use those...lol) but we are both very pleased with the result.
Reply:Use a lampshade as a guest book. Just place the lamp with the shade (paper works best since fabric tends to make the markers bleed) on the reception table with a permanent marker, and your guests can sign their names and wedding wishes for posterity. Simply explain that people will be writing on the shade. The lamp then becomes a daily memory of your special day when you bring it back home.

Reply:You could do a video guest book. Have someone walking around with a video camera having guests send you their best via video instead of just signing their name in a book. It would be something you could hold on to forever just like a regular guest book but you could pop it in your dvd player and run it when guests come over or whenever you want to remember your day!

I'm probably going to do a tree - buy or make some sort of a small tree, then provide small pieces of cardstock with ribbon going through one corner. The guests write their well-wishes and hang it onto the tree. Then I'll go back and put all of the notes into a scrapbook.

Reply:I am doing a quilt - seems a bit old fashioned but quilting where I live is a big thing now! When people come in they will grab a square of material and a permanent marker and write a good wish, piece of advice, etc. Then I am taking it to the quilt shop where we will piece it together and they will sew it for me! We can use it with our children, display it as a wall hanging, anything we like. I've mentioned it to a couple people and they said they have never seen that done. Reply:They have large frames with wide width matting that you could have on a table when you first go into your reception. You can find these at Michaels or other Art/craft/frame stores.

You could pick your best engagement picture and put it in there. (For the reception the glass is kept off) Signatures and well wishes are a great memory, and also can be hung in your new home. My nephew had a very high end wedding and this looked beautiful.

i have a couple of favorites. one is Bill Page the sax player (he was partners with my mom in 2 donut shops (one in long beach and one in torrance) in california. another is myron florin (the accordian player- my parents lived down the street from him a long long long time ago and when they (my parents) went over to his house to play canasta, to keep me occupied, he would let me play with one of his accordians. i also like the lennon sisters because i had a crush on all three of them when i was like 8 or 9 years old

First of all I use Paypal myself on my website for customers to pay for the product. Asking anyone to PAY to enter graciously an entry to YOUR guestbook is lame. They are doing YOU a favor by promoting the site or your product for FREE, simply by taking the time to comment. The comments you don't like you simply remove. It's like getting free promotion or marketing. What is your point here? If it is to avoid useless entries, which I have had also, then simply delete them. I would need more information if I missed the point. As far as I know you can't do that, once the applet is there it can be used by anyone at anytime as often as they want unless you design your own and lock it/password it and issue a key or password when you receive payment. You will get ZERO entries in my opinion.

I was signed up for awhile and I noticed my classmates disappearing from the list , I did the same as everyone else and cancelled or deleted my profile membership especially when suppposedly someone was trying to contact me.

The site will do anything to make a buck.

Well... I guess it is a grafitti wall - If the posts are automated though it can easily be overcome by including a verification box (the poster must type specified order of letters before uploading a message is possible).

Most of the US and Canadian newspapers now have their online guestbooks through Legacy.com. You can go to their site and retrieve an old guestbook for a very small fee of $2.95. I believe they have Mr. Dutcher's that was published in The Berkshire Eagle. Here's the teaser on it:

doesn't seem to have his obituary on-line. They show you the first paragraph and ask for $2.95 for the whole thing. There may be a smaller paper for Ormond Beach.
